Proper Installation and ways contractors take the shortcut leaving the homeowner without the peace of mind:  the contractor must roll out the product and let it sit in the sun for a minimum of 20 minutes in order for the product to relax itself, for the first course the contractor usually just applies it onto the roof but in fact the roofing contractor must cut the top lap of the roll and install it first to have something for the first course to seal onto, adding 1 inch cap nails on the strip every 2 feet applying roofing cement a bead going across and around the 1 inch cap nails avoiding putting too much on forcing the excess to squeeze out the sides and onto the surface of the lowslope product.  Any overlap must be a minimum of 6 inches on the endlaps and going up atleast 3 feet up the pitch change of the roof above if any, if this isn't completed in this method you'll find yourself with a leaking roof several years down the road and by then you'll have not only rotten wood but insulation that is full of mold and compressed increasing your utility bills.

Roofing and the importance of low slope applications, do you wonder who is telling the truth, whether you as the customer should just use simple standard shingles or go the more expensive route and install low slope application.  Well, let us tell you the truth, between the pitch 1/2/12 and 2/12 you cannot use shingles or the warranty will be voided.  With a roofing installation that requires low slope application you must use 1 ply or 2 ply lowslope self adhered roofing system (sbs granulated membrane).  This will give you the proper installation avoiding leaks in the future and most importantly the home owner usually doesn't find out until its years down the road and sometimes days, when it's too late, when the plywood is rotten and the homeowner is left with a hefty bill, left with the daunting task calling the insurance company only to find out that it's not covered due to neglect on your part and here it is, in plain black and white.  You must install low slope and NOT shingles on 1/2/12 to 2/12 pitches giving you the best seal protecting your most important investment, your home.  Features include immediately waterproof, it's nailible for extra security, no hot asphalt or other adhesives required, self-sticking lower surface; end laps bonded with rubberized mastic, non-woven fibreglass reinforcement, permanentley flexible even at low temperatures, no primers required, cold application; no possibility of fires, designed for application on nailable decks of oriented strand board(OSB), plywood, milllumber and over granule or smooth surfaced built-up roof surfaces and classified by Underwriters Laboratores Canada for Fire Resistance, Class C Roof Cover(Can/ULC-S 107-M)

Most roofing companies will present the product to carry the same warranty as the roof itself but this is NOT true in any way, the warranty is 20 years on the low slope application and most shingles sold today are 25 years and up, mind you there are lower shingle warranties availible.
