When air escapes from your home, heated air that is into your attic it will become trapped, improper air ventilation will pull the air out of your home, lack of attic insulation (we recommend fibreglass blown in attic insulation, NOT paper or the fancy word, cellulose) again lack of insulation will allow the air to be pulled out more easily then melting the snow slowly making its way to the eaves where it refreezes and if the refreezing already happened then the excess water has no where to go except back underneath the shingles as there are NOT water proof like ice and water shield and then going into your home.
